We are celebrating our Irish Canadian ancestors, many of whom orignally located in the Papineau, Quebec, Canada area in the early 1800's. |
During the early 1800's many Irish families emigrated from Ireland to North America. Some of these families traveled down the St Lawrence River and settled in Quebec Province.
Some of communities they established were Mayo, Buckingham, Thurso, Silver Creek, Lochaber, among others. These early settlers endured many hardships, raised families and established farms and businesses and though some migrated to different areas of Canada and the United States, they left there mark in the Papineau region. We look forward to visiting the area of our Canadian roots and celebrating our pioneer ancestors. Come and share your memories, photos, stories and family history.
